Project Metro Athens
For
the Olympic summer games 2004 the transport service Attiko Metro has
ordered 21 new metro-vehicles from the South Korean HANWAH – ROTEM
consortium. Those vehicles are 14 single system- (750 V DC) and 7 double
system-vehicles (750 V DC / 25 kV AC) which shall be used on the existing
two tunnel lines of the new transport connection to the international
airport “Eleftherios Venizelos”.
Stemmann-Technik
GmbH was awarded the order for production of third-rail-shoegears for
those vehicles. Furthermore, Stemmann-Technik GmbH supplies the roof-mounted
pantographs for the double system-vehicles used on the 25 kV-overhead
line-network. Essential characteristic of the roof-mounted pantographs
is the extremely low lowest position of the pantograph. This is achieved
by an insulated lower strut.
