Project FEVE
The FEVE is a narrow-gauge railway association which effects the railway traffic in northern Spain.

FEVE has started a modernisation programme and has assigned the modernisation of diesel-traction units to SIEMENS AG, Transportation Systems in Erlangen. These vehicles were converted into electrical traction units and today they are named UTE 3600.
Stemmann-Technik GmbH was assigned by SIEMENS AG to be the sub-supplier for the ground contacts. For this project a ground contact had to be connected to an existing bogie. We had received old drawings. These documents had to be sifted, checked and completed by getting drawings from the wheel set-manufacturer. Then a ground contact was designed and approved by SIEMENS and FEVE by means of a design freeze. After receipt of an order for 104 ground contacts, these ground contacts were produced and supplied to the customer.

In the year 2001 a succession-order of 48 ground contacts for the modernisation of diesel-locomotives for FEVE was placed with Stemmann-Technik GmbH by SIEMENS AG. Here, the locomotives were converted from diesel-drive to electrical drive. The modernised locomotive is named S1900. An option of 38 ground contacts was assigned during the year 2003. The project procedure was effected in the same way as for the traction units.
The modernised locomotive of series S1900 shown above has a special painting with the inscription “Transcantabrico”. The train Transcantabrico is travelling from Santiago de Compostela alongside the coast towards Léon in northern Spain, and it stops at all interesting landmarks along this track. This expensive, interesting and culinary journey is very popular in Spain.
