Project AB 401 – backflow-contact for high performance-locomotives
The ground contact AB401 was especially designed for the use in a locomotive-wheel set bearing. It is featured by a compact design with a high current transmission. By means of the contact up to 600 A can be transmitted via the metal graphite-carbon brushes.
The contact is used in the Siemens high performance-locomotives “Euro Sprinter” and “Euro Runner”. Of the electrical varieties of the Euro Sprinter already more than 950 locomotives were exported to 10 countries. Besides European customers like DB, ÖBB, RENFE, CP, OSE DSB there are also overseas operators like CR (China) or KNR (South Korea). The machines are offered as single system or two- to four-system locomotives to enable application in the individual countries or flexibly also across national borders.
The diesel-electrically operated “Euro Runner” was already supplied to ÖBB and KCRC in Hong Kong. As disposition-locomotive ER20 (rental locomotive) this version also can be used in cross-border passenger- or freight transportation – independent from the national overhead line-voltage.
